DESCRIPTION
Arrange and shelve materials, maintain proper shelf order, and assist with circulation, including charging and discharging materials and assist patrons by locating materials and answering questions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
- Arrange materials on book trucks by Dewey Decimal and/or alphabetical order.
- Shelve materials in proper location and in proper order.
- Maintain the proper shelf order by reading shelves.
- Empty book/audiovisual return boxes and discharge items.
- Assist in providing circulation functions, including charging, and discharging library materials, registering patrons.
- Assist patrons in locating library materials in the online public catalog, computers, and on the shelves as needed, answer simple reference questions.
- Assist with preparing materials for adult and children’s programs with preparing bulletin boards and displays. Help collate and staple printed materials.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required minimum qualifications:
Education: Currently attending high school or college.
Experience: No experience required. Candidates will be trained.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System, and of the Georgia PINES automated library system.
- Knowledge of bibliographic databases.
- Knowledge of county library procedures.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Skill in handling routine details accurately.
- Considerable knowledge of all state laws governing the registration and election process and materials and supplies needed to prepare for elections.
- Familiarity with geography, precinct, and other electoral boundaries within the Richmond County, Georgia area.
- Proficiency in interpreting statistical election result reports.
- Mastery of operating a personal computer.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral
