Minimum Qualifications
Education and / or Equivalent Experience :
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience in all phases of work as a journeyman-level electrician installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing medium-voltage electrical systems such as 5KV to 15KV distribution equipment, motor controls, facility building equipment, and lighting systems at a utility or facility plant or industrial production plant.
- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in all phases of work as a journeyman level electrician, including two (2) years of experience which include directly related utility electrical experience performing installations and diagnostics experience working at voltages of 1000V to 15kV installing, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of electrical machinery and equipment in permanent building systems, power generation plants, utility facilities, treatment plants, or industrial facilities. Experience must include commercial or industrial wiring, installing and repairing electrical conduit systems, and troubleshooting industrial motor control systems, mechanical motor starters, soft starters, and variable frequency drives.

POSITION OVERVIEW :
Performing complex electrical diagnostics, calibration, maintenance, and repairs to switchgear, distribution equipment and breakers.
Lead and trains in repairs and installs electrical distribution equipment, including but no limited to conduit, conductors, breakers, panel boards, disconnects, transformers, switches and receptacles.
Respond to electrical emergencies and customer service request; assist with identifying and resolving electrical issues and repairs; perform preventative and remedial maintenance activities.
Assist with the review and oversight of electrical work that is performed by tenants, contractors, and consultants.
DRIVER'S REQUIREMENT :
This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and the individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA .
This position requires a Valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City's Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

ON- CALL / CALL BACK RESPONSIBILITIES :
Position may require on-call or call back responsibilities.
SHIFT INCENTIVE :
Shift work includes shift differential incentive for evening and night shifts and weekends.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL :
This position is categorized as essential personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.
