About the Job :
The Operations & Maintenance Specialist directly operates and maintains the Mission Critical systems required to achieve the Building Services service level agreement for the Combined Transportation, Emergency & Communications ( CTECC ) facility. The CTECC is a Mission Critical facility that is required to function, within design specifications, 24x7x365. Building Services service agreement with CTECC is to provide electricity, chilled water, and Mission Critical Facility services to internal partners ( TXDOT , Capital Metro, Travis County, and City of Austin) as well as external customers (911 users). The facility must meet 99.999% reliability measures, meet the Mission Critical Equipment specifications, and be reliable (24x7x365) with respect to delivering these commodities. The Operations & Maintenance Specialist requires an extensive broad knowledge base over multiple crafts i.e. electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and general building maintenance. This position will provide first line response to Mission Critical equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and ensuring occupant service requirements are met. Additionally, this position participates in a rotating On-Call program to fulfill the 24x7x365 coverage component required by the nature of the facility.
Key Tasks include :
Strong customer service skills / Ability to function in a high stress environment / Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all Mission Critical and non-critical systems (Ex : Fire Suppression, HVAC , electrical, UPS , emergency generators) with a primary initial focus on Electrical systems.

Fair Labor Standards Act ( FLSA ) Classification :
This position is classified as NON - EXEMPT . This is a full time, forty (40) hour per week position.
Driving Requirement :
This position requires a Texas Driver's License in good standing or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days of your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months. This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and individual will be required to drive a City of Austin vehicle.

In the event of a City-designated emergency, Essential Employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees and ensure the continuity of essential operations.
