The City of Avondale is now accepting applications for the Parks, Recreation & Libraries 2025 Aquatic Season. Applications are being accepted continuously until filled. Applications will be reviewed starting Monday, January 6, 2025.
Interviews are tentatively scheduled to take place beginning in January and will run through Spring 2025 or until all positions are filled.

These positions are temporary and will work a varied schedule beginning in February 2025.

Shallow Water Lifeguard - Pay: $15.45
Essential Functions
- Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center including monitoring the safety of patrons utilizing the facility, educating patrons on safe facility conduct, and as needed, providing life-saving rescues for patrons in distress up to 4 feet in depth.
- A Valid Lifeguard Certification and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer Certification within 30 days of hire.
- While direct experience is not mandatory for this position, candidates must be a minimum of 15 years old upon hire.
Essential Functions
- Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center including monitoring the safety of patrons utilizing the facility, educating patrons on safe facility conduct, and as needed, providing life-saving rescues for patrons in distress up to 12 feet in depth.
- A Valid Lifeguard Certification and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer Certification within 30 days of hire.
- While direct experience is not mandatory for this position, candidates must be a minimum of 16 years old upon hire.
Essential Functions
- A Valid Lifeguard Certification, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer Certification, and Swim Lesson Instructor (SLI) Certification, or equivalent within 30 days of hire.
- While direct experience is not mandatory for this position, candidates must be a minimum of 16 years old upon hire.
Essential Functions
- Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center including assisting the Pool Manager with the supervision of pool activities, scheduling, assigning personnel to duty locations, and ensuring proper Lifeguard coverage.
- A Valid Lifeguard Certification, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer Certification, and Swim Lesson Instructor (SLI) or equivalent by date of hire.
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent is required.
- At least three (3) months of experience as a lifeguard/swim instructor, directing activities at swimming pools.
Salary : $15 - $23
