What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Programs Assistant position at City of Avondale?
Supports coordinating all senior services program activities, including managing supplies, staffing, transportation logistics, marketing efforts, and data entry into program systems.
Assists with the daily operations of the senior transportation program, including scheduling routes, maintaining the waitlist, and inputting data into Serve Tracker. Ensures vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and operational, and may serve as a backup driver as needed.
Helps supervise volunteers, interns, and program aides, providing direction and support as necessary.
Assists with setup and teardown of facilities, equipment, and supplies for activities and events, including the St. Mary’s Food Distribution Program.
Delivers high-quality customer service by offering support and guidance to participants and ensuring equitable enforcement of city policies and procedures.
Provides kitchen assistance, including meal preparation, serving, and cleanup.
Transports program participants safely and delivers meals to homebound seniors, conducting wellness checks as part of the delivery service.
Supports the Arizona Complete Health Avondale Resource Center by covering the front desk, assisting with events, and ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for visitors.

Must obtain a level 1 fingerprint clearance card upon offer of employment before start date. Must obtain First Aid/CPR certification and Maricopa Food Handler’s Certification within 90 days of hire. Must pass pre-employment and periodic physical examinations throughout employment to transport senior participants.
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.Work requires the ability to read directions, food orders, policies, and forms.
Work requires the ability to perform general math calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and percentages.
Work requires the ability to write simple instructions and guides.
Must be able to work with citizens or participants in accordance with Senior Services policies and procedures.
Work requires the direction of volunteers, and/or temporary employees. Must maintain regular attendance. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Ability to demonstrate leadership to implement and lead/conduct senior programs for the public. Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service skills to the public, internal staff, and outside entities. Must be able to work with citizens and participants in accordance with senior center policies and procedures. Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with peers, supervisors, and the general public.
Salary : $17 - $25
