Tasks performed by our kennel technicians include cleaning kennels, cages, and buildings. Additionally, they may administer medications and vaccinations, answer phones, and assist with the animal adoption process.
May be required to assist other personnel in the department on calls in the field.
Position requires ability to work weekends and holidays as may be required. Transports animals to vet as necessary.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employee could be exposed to possibly dangerous animals on a daily basis. Employee must work in seasonal temperatures. Must be able to bend, run, lift and crawl into small spaces. Must be able to lift and/or restrain animals weighing up to 50lbs.
REQUIRED CONTACTS
Must have the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with the public and other city employees.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills-Knowledge of the care and handling of animals. Knowledge of vehicle operations and simple record keeping procedures. Ability to deal effectively and courteously with city employees and the public. Follow verbal and written instructions. Work under adverse conditions. Exercise good judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions. Basic computer skills.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification - High School diploma or High School equivalency certificate. Valid Texas Driver's License.
