The Community Resources Department is currently seeking two (2) Part-Time Bus Drivers !

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under limited supervision, safely and efficiently drives a van or bus to transport passengers; performs routine maintenance on vehicles operated; performs related duties as required.
Essential Functions
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Responsible for transporting passengers relating to the City's Gold Line shuttle and demand response transportation programs. Day-to-day operations to various locations including medical offices, shopping, recreational activities, etc.; plans the best route to follow based on starting points and destination of riders and appointment times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Drives bus over an assigned route in accordance with a time schedule.
- Assists the disabled or senior citizens including those on wheelchairs, to board and exit from the vehicle and from the vehicle to their destination; safely secures wheelchairs in van / bus; assists passengers in carrying packages.
- Prepares daily reports of passenger loads and accidents.
- Completes pre-trip check of mechanical condition including : gas, oil, tires, belts; fuels vehicles; cleans the inside and outside of assigned vehicle; maintains records of vehicle maintenance.
- Operates two-way mobile bus radio in accordance with established operating rules and procedures.

Any combination of education and / or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example combinations include graduation from high school or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in para-transit service.

Part-time employees are paid an hourly rate based on hours worked and typically work 19 hours or less per week. The City of Azusa does not pay into Social Security, so part-time employees are enrolled in the Accumulation Program for Part-Time and Limited-Service Employees (APPLE). Part-time employees pay 3.75% of wages into this retirement program and the City matches the employee's (3.75% of wages) share.
Paid Sick Leave :
Effective July 1, 2015, part-time employees accrue sick leave beginning with the first full pay period of employment on the basis of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked. The maximum accrual per year is 48 hours. A waiting period of 90 days is required before an employee may be eligible to use paid sick leave. Although paid sick leave can be carried over year to year, an employee can only accumulate up to a maximum of 48 hours and may use up to 24 hours in any one year.
This position is not covered by any other medical benefits.
Part-time employees are not considered to be part of the City of Azusa Merit and Civil Service System and are thus designated as non-classified employees. Part-time employees are "at will" employees and, as such, may be terminated at any time without any right of appeal.
