DEFINITION
Under supervision, guards swimmers in pool; enforces regulations; and does related work as required in order to insure the safe use of all public swimming facilities and other duties as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following functions are typical for this classification. Incumbent may not perform all of the listed functions and/or may be required to perform additional or different functions from those set forth below to address department needs and changing business practices.
Supervises the activities of swimmers in and around the pool to see that policies, rules and regulations are observed and that no hazard to safety is created.
Helps in cleaning and maintaining the pool and its facilities and equipment.
Gives first aid in the event of injuries; assists in opening and closing of the pool.
Rescues persons in distress or danger of drowning; warns swimmers of improper activities or dangers.
Answers inquiries and gives information pertaining to the pool, its facilities, the swimming program and department in general.
Keeps in good physical condition.
Acts as swim team coach or assistant coach as assigned.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Qualified candidates must be at least sixteen (16) years of age with a work permit AND must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate; American Red Cross CPR, First Aid and AED for the Professional Rescuer or similar certifications from the American Heart Association are also acceptable. A T.B. clearance is required. All certifications must be current and obtained by the time of hire.

- Must be available to work split shifts, weekdays, weekends and nights.
- This position is for the 2025 Summer Aquatics Program.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and have reliable transportation to and from work.

Salary : $17 - $21
