Representative Duties
Extra-Help positions may be assigned to multiple departments and divisions in support of a variety of projects and work duties in a limited-term or temporary capacity. Positions require specific program and/or work product knowledge which is typically associated to prior service with the City of Bakersfield or a closely related municipal or government agency. Those returning will readily be able to assist with limited-term assignments or specific intermittent projects while providing a continuance of services and limiting workflow disruptions due to staffing vacancies. Retired annuitants have specific employment conditions regulated by the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) and members are encouraged to discuss extra-help assignments as it relates to membership eligibility.
