BACKGROUND CHECK:

PROBATION:
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
ELIGIBILITY:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION:
Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
CLASS DESCRIPTION
An Impoundment Services Supervisor I oversees the daily operation of an abandoned storage or impounded vehicle lot. Work of this class involves supervising tow truck operators.
Incumbents receive general supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work irregular hours including evening, weekend and holiday work. Work is performed in an office where incumbents encounter no uncomfortable or hazardous working conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:
EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possess a GED certificate.
EXPERIENCE: Have four years of experience in an automotive impoundment and storage yard or towing operation.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Have a valid Maryland Class C Non-Commercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the operations of an automotive impounding and storage yard.
- Knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of the automotive registration laws of the State of Maryland.
- Knowledge of the Maryland Transportation Laws and Article 31 of Baltimore City Code.
- Ability to maintain records and write reports.
- Ability to interpret City personnel practices and procedures.
- Ability to deal with the public.
- Supervisory ability.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
