CLASS DESCRIPTION
A Public Information Officer II performs such complex public information duties as producing and directing promotional films, organizing promotional campaigns and moderating panel discussions on television and radio. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek. Work is performed in an office where working conditions are normal. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have two years of experience in performing public information or public relations work.
OR
NOTES EQUIVALENCIES: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the techniques and methods of public information and relations.
- Knowledge of the preparation of material for release to the media (press, radio or television).
- Knowledge of graphic materials and their use.
- Ability to speak and write effectively.
- Ability to establish effective relationships with the various media, social, civic, and community organizations and the public.
