ELIGIBILITY: Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to this position identified as positions of trust will be required to authorize the release of and successfully complete a Fingerprint check.
PROBATION: All persons, including current City employees, selected from this position will be on probation for 6 months.
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
A Construction Mechanical Inspector I conduct on-site inspections of mechanical installations in new construction or renovation projects for contract and specification compliance. Work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek, but may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday hours on a 24-hour on-call basis. Work is performed at construction sites where incumbents may encounter dust, mud, noise, heights, and inclement weather conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have three (3) years of experience in mechanical installation, maintenance or inspection.
OR
EQUIVALENCIES: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
Applicants must hold a master plumber license issued by the State Board of Plumbing, the Baltimore County Plumbing Board, or the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
Have a valid Maryland class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit. PROVISIONAL DRIVER’S LICENSE ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE.
