BACKGROUND CHECK:

PROBATION:
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
ELIGIBILITY:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION:
Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
A Fiscal Policy Analyst reviews and conducts complex fiscal studies for committees of the City Council. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Employees in this class work a conventional work week that will include some evening hours to cover City Council meetings. Work is performed in an office where normal working conditions are encountered. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of budgetary and fiscal analysis including research and statistical analysis and their application to budgetary and fiscal problems.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration.
- Knowledge of the background, issues, and current trends in municipal government finance and other related urban studies.
- Ability to write reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, departmental personnel and personnel of other governmental agencies and institutions.
- Ability to assign, review and correct the work of subordinate personnel.
