SALARY RANGE: $15.00 - $30.00 HOURLY
BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
Summary Of Position
The Community Aide (Handyman) will oversee general building maintenance within the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks. This role involves performing minor fixes, preventive maintenance, tracking and following up on needed repairs, and coordinating with contractors and BCRP maintenance staff when working on site. The ideal candidate will be professional, organized, and able to communicate effectively with staff and patrons.
Education And Experience Requirements
EDUCATION: Must have a High School Diploma (or equivalent), proven experience as a handyman, basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, or HVAC systems, experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment, and ability to read technical manuals and drawings. Also, very good communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and basic math skills.
AND
EXPERIENCE: At least three years of maintenance, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or construction experience
