SALARY RANGE : $34,049.00 - $38,190.00 ANNUALLY
BACKGROUND CHECK :
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and / or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION :
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
ELIGIBILITY :
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION :
Applicants' education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
CLASS DESCRIPTION :
A Teacher's Assistant II Preschool aids in preparing lessons and providing a variety of activities for preschool children in a day care center. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties.
Incumbents receive close supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek; some evening, and weekend hours may be required. Work is performed in a classroom where there may be exposure to children with colds and infections. Work requires minimal physical exertion; however, incumbents may walk, kneel or sit on the floor with pupils.
SELECTION PROCESS :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION :
On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must :
EDUCATION : Have graduated from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certification.
EXPERIENCE : Have two (2) years of experience working with preschool children in a licensed day care or group setting.
EQUIVALENCY : Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completion of one course in preschool childhood education or development from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of the experience requirement.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES :

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Knowledge of the purposes and methods of group day care programs.
- Knowledge of teaching aids and instructional materials.
- Ability to aid in planning lessons and activities for preschool children.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.
- Ability to maintain health and attendance records.
EXAMINATION PROCESS :
