BACKGROUND CHECK
Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint must be successfully completed.
PROBATION
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks’ Aquatics Division is seeking dependable and qualified individuals to fill these non-civil service, seasonal/temporary Swimming Pool Operator positions for our upcoming 2025 Pool Season to begin in May of 2025 and end in August of 2025.

Position Description
The selected candidates may oversee the daily activities of a small public swimming pool, which can include supervising Lifeguards and Pool Attendants, trains lifeguards in pool safety, investigates and reports pool accidents to superiors, operates pool filtration system and tests pool for water purity, recommends new procedures for controlling swimmers & improving working conditions, cleans pool facilities & grounds, performs pool maintenance, prepares maintenance reports and other related duties as required.
Minimum Education, Experience And Certification Requirements
REQUIREMENTS – Minimum Age 17 (A work permit issued by the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation is required for those under the age of 18.) Two years experience as a Lifeguard.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS – Certified Pool Operator, Lifeguarding, First Aid, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for Professional Rescuers issued by the American Red Cross or an equivalent certification.
