BACKGROUND CHECK:

PROBATION:
All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory 6-month probation.
ELIGIBILITY:
Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.
EDUCATION ACCREDITATION:
Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
CLASS DESCRIPTION:
A Radio Dispatcher II ensures prompt response by repair crews or emergency vehicles by utilizing a two-way base radio, telephone and related communications equipment to resolve citizen complaints or calls for assistance. Work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.
Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a rotating shift to provide 24-hour coverage, seven days a week. Work is performed in an office setting where the employee seldom encounters uncomfortable environmental or hazardous working conditions. Work requires moderate physical exertion.
SELECTION PROCESS

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION: Have graduated from an accredited high school or possess a GED certification from an accredited institution.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have three years of experience in operating a two-way base radio and related communications equipment.
OR
EQUIVALENCIES: Have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES:
Some positions in this class may require a valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license, or an equivalent out-of-state driver's license acceptable to the Office of Risk Management is required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
