This position is full-time (40 hours per week) with a comprehensive benefits package. Highlights include:

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within two years, Maine Wastewater Treatment Plant Grade IV Certification.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain NEWEA Laboratory Analyst Certification within one year.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain Grade I NEWEA Collection System Operator Certification within one year.
- Understanding of physical, chemical and microbiological properties of wastewater.
- Understanding of the tests and procedures in “Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater”.
- Motivation to optimize and automate procedures within the laboratory, Treatment Plant and auxiliary locations.
- Proficiency and utilization of VT SCADA, Hach WIMS, eDMR, Microsoft Office and other specialized software will be required.
- Progressive knowledge and understanding of all applicable federal, state and local regulations concerning the Clean Water Act, Industrial Pretreatment Program, the City’s MEPDES permit and EPA Consent Decree.
- Ability to work effectively under unpredictable surges in workload.
- Working knowledge of drafting procedures and ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Working knowledge of office procedures and ability to maintain files, records and use of standard office equipment, including but not limited to, electronic reporting database programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with private facility owners, contractors, engineers, property owners, regulatory agencies and the public.
- Ability to respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
- Possession of a valid Maine Driver’s License.
- Will be required to submit to a criminal background check.
