GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction of a departmental supervisor, performs highly responsible sub-professional engineering and construction work. Work involves assignments as project inspector coordinating the activities of several public works construction projects. Work also involves responsibility for coordinating the activities of engineering survey work. Incumbent exercises considerable independent judgment in developing work methods and procedures within the confines of City-Parish regulations and departmental policies. Work is reviewed through inspection, oral and written reports, and for results obtained. Performs other work as requested.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma, GED, HiSET, or equivalent certificate of competency, supplemented by vocational or trade school courses in drafting, and four years of sub-professional engineering/architectural/construction experience (such as drafting, surveying, inspecting, etc.).

SUBSTITUTIONS

Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS

(Unless otherwise specified below, must possess at the time of appointment and must be maintained current throughout employment in this classification.)

Must have a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment in this classification.

Position(s) of this classification may require at the time of application, certification from the Louisiana Department of Transportation, Louisiana State Department of Health, International Code Council, Unified Development Code, or other related engineering or construction technology accrediting agencies.

SELECTIVE CERTIFICATION
