What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bailey Park Grounds Crew position at City of Battle Creek (MI)?
The City of Battle Creek is looking for candidates to join their Grounds crew out at Bailey Park! Grounds Crew employees are responsible for the preparation of the playing fields for baseball, softball and special event activities. As well as, the overall upkeep of Bailey Park. Grounds crew members must be flexible and ready to assist in any and all areas, as needed or required by the direct supervisor.
- Manage all field prep including, but not limited to, ball fields and surrounding area management, edging, mound and plate prep, warning track maintenance, and infield playing surface maintenance.
- Occasionally monitoring weather conditions to ensure playability and player safety.
- Maintain fields during games.
- Perform pregame and post-game field maintenance as necessary.
- Ability to quickly pull tarps and other related equipment on and off fields.
- Operate and maintain/clean all equipment in a safe manner and keep in excellent working condition.
- Chalking and painting the fields
- Some janitorial duties.
- Trimming, weeding, mowing, etc.
- Assist with all operations and tasks that relate to the general upkeep and cleanliness of the park.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Experience operating equipment such as tractors, mowers, utility carts, string trimmers, and blowers.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, Grounds Crew members will have to stand, walk, bend, run, stoop, lift, etc. Employees must be physically capable of lifting 70 lbs, sufficiently, able to be active for an extended period, able to communicate with others verbally and written both in-person and on the phone, must be willing to work in all weather conditions, evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
