Description
The City of Battle Creek is looking for a qualified individual to manage our Verona Water Treatment and Pumping station. This will involve work supervising, planning, and coordinating the operation, maintenance, and improvements of a Water Production Facility. This includes maintaining water quality parameters, sampling and reporting as required by the State of Michigan's Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE). Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Utility Administrator. Continuous supervision is exercised over all personnel within the six member team. Working hours for this position are currently Monday - Friday 6 : 30 am-3 : 00 pm, which can be adjusted minimally. This position is also available for minimal on call opportunities of paid overtime which is usually assisting operators over telephone.
The Chief Operator position at the Verona Water Treatment and Pumping station is often engaged with vendors for the requisition of water treatment products and with contractors making improvements at the facility. This position also works closely with DPW Staff in maintaining the current asset management plan for the Verona Water Treatment and Pumping station. Further coordination is done with Mechanical Repairmen associated with the Waste Water Treatment Plant.

Voluntary benefits are also offered for accident, hospital and critical care.
Currently, BCSA members are required to contribute 5% of their gross earnings towards their MERS benefit. Additionally, the City recognizes 13 paid holidays and provides an additional 8 hours of PTO each year for a birthday holiday.
