Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Receives money on a wide variety of city revenues and bills from walk-in customers; assists or directs customers with questions or problems on bills; records data on the computer; verifies and balances payments and returns printed receipt to customer; batches, logs and balances various mail payments; verifies and balances deposits from various city departments; processes night deposit payments and utility collection from local banks and grocery stores; processes return checks; sells bus passes; cashes city payroll checks; issues petty cash funds to departments; fills change orders for departments; issues a variety of City permits and licenses, may transport daily deposits to bank; runs balancing reports; sorts bills and balances money and bills to report; encodes checks and readies currency for deposit within specified time period at the closing of each day; duties require punctuality. Performs general filing and clerical duties; performs duties in the billing area of cash management including document scanning; makes pickups and deliveries for office.

Working Conditions
Works indoors in a normal office environment. Must be available to work from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
Skills/Abilities: Ability to operate a computer terminal, printer, cash drawer, calculator, typewriter, proof machine, mail opening machine, and copier; ability to quickly and accurately enter data; ability to utilize micro-computer applications; ability to perform arithmetic computations quickly and accurately; ability to understand and carry out moderately complex oral and written instructions; ability to work quickly under pressure; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public; ability to demonstrate flexibility in executing various job functions as required; ability to work with daily deadlines; must be comfortable handling large amounts of cash.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears, sits, bends, twists body, and uses a calculator; frequently sorts, stands, walks, operates a PC, performs data entry, types, writes by hand, and lifts objects weighing up to 10 lbs.; infrequently squats and bends.
Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent with some experience/education in bookkeeping and two (2) years' experience as a cashier/teller at a financial institution or another institution with similar responsibilities; minimum one (1) year experience in data entry for centralized computer required; experience with micro-computers, word processing and spreadsheet software and other general clerical duties desirable; experience in the operation of computerized cash registers preferred.
