Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Evaluates program content and the methods used in providing community recreation activities; makes recommendations for areas of improvement; implements appropriate recommendations; selects, trains, supervises and evaluates staff; meets with individuals, community groups and school officials to ensure that facility programs and activities are meeting the ever changing needs of the community; serves as the manager of the Sterling Pruitt Activity Center; prepares and administers the division budget; develops and recommends facility policies; supervises the inventory of recreation supplies and equipment; approves purchases as needed; recommends changes in program staffing and objectives to assure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

Working Conditions
Works indoors in a normal office environment and an open office environment. Must be available to work 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and extended hours when required. May be exposed to extreme temperature swings, storeroom environment, extreme heat, and working outdoors.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
Skills/Abilities: Ability to design, develop and implement recreation programs suited to the needs of the community; ability to analyze, interpret and explain department policies and procedures; ability to supervise, train, evaluate and manage the operations of the City’s Sterling Pruitt Activity Center and its staff; ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing; ability to prepare and administer a division budget; ability to hear; ability to deal with the public; ability to read; ability to perform mathematical computations; ability to make decisions; ability to operate a personal computer.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently operates a calculator, operates a personal computer, types, files, writes by hand, drives, walks; infrequently performs data entry, kneels, sorts, stands, twists body, carries, drags, holds, pulls and pushes objects weighing up to 50 lbs., climbs, squats, and stoops.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration or related field and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in providing recreation or leisure services with at least one (1) year in an administrative or supervisory role required. Must possess a personal vehicle.
