Essential Job Functions: Performs unskilled manual tasks involved in the maintenance, repair and rehabilitation of walkways, parks, lawns, ditches, curbs, and gutters; picks up litter and empties trash cans; mows grass, uses weed eater and edges, trims plant material; digs holes and ditches with a shovel; cleans park buildings; loads and unloads heavy and bulky objects and materials from trucks. Supervises a crew of three or four employees on a daily basis. May operate light duty equipment on relief, training or emergency basis; cleans and properly maintains tools; cleans swimming pools; bags leaves; fills out vehicle maintenance reports; replenishes supplies; maintains effective working conditions of necessary tools and equipment.

Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather; is exposed to extreme cold and extreme hot temperatures; exposure to dirt, dust, grime, noise, and the hazards of working around equipment. Must be available to work 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, works overtime when necessary.Skills/Abilities: Must have ability to interact effectively with the public and other employees; must be able to safely operate mowers, weed eaters and hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, pruning shears, chain saws, bucket trucks and wrenches; must be able to drive trucks, vans or cars, must be able to read, write and make decisions.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently stands, walks, cleans, drives, stoops, carries, lifts objects weighing up to 50 lbs.; infrequently climbs, crawls, kneels, sits, sorts, squats, twists body, writes, drags, pulls or pushes objects weighing up to 100 lbs.
Education/Experience: High school graduate or equivalent; minimum six (6) months experience performing manual labor, minimum (6) months experience in lawn maintenance preferred.
Must possess a valid Class B/CDL driver's license with a good driving record or obtain a Class B/CDL license within six (6) months of employment. Other state valid Class B/CDL driver's license with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
