Essential Job Functions: The successful candidate for this position will need to display the ability to identify and apply for various grants that meet the City of Beaumont’s needs. This position will serve as the central contact for the planning and preparation of grant proposals for departments citywide and will serve as the liaison between municipal departments and granting agencies, including coordination with the City’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the Accounting Division to ensure financial compliance. The Grants Coordinator position performs high-level professional work which includes grant administration and coordinating grant management activities on a citywide basis. Identifying grants and performing grant administration and coordination activities may include, but not be limited to, any or all of the following: research and identify grant funding opportunities, grant funding needs, and the criteria for each; prepare and compile all components of each grant submission, ensuring that each proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with granting agency requirements; provide assistance in determining grant eligibility; provide technical assistance and training to departments in grant writing, preparation, and management; assist in improving grant policies and procedures for the City; monitor and coordinate the administration of post-award grants to ensure that administrative and budgeting policies, procedures, and agency requirement are being followed; facilitate interdepartmental coordination and communication on multi-departmental grant projects to ensure that grants are processed and administered in a timely manner and according to grant requirements; and provide technical expertise in determining grant compliance requirements. The Grants Coordinator position also works closely with other City departments and divisions to accomplish the various grant-related needs of the City. The Grants Coordinator position will be responsible for reporting grant activity and progress to City Management and will work with various department directors and division heads throughout the City to provide technical assistance and advice on matters related to grant administration and management. The Grants Coordinator will work closely with internal City staff, citywide, with any grant-related responsibilities to ensure effective administration of citywide grants and the citywide grants processes and procedures.

Normal office environment. Work hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Must be available to work extended hours, as needed.Knowledge: The successful candidate must possess knowledge of grant sources and the ability to locate potential sources for funding; must possess thorough knowledge and ability to interpret federal, state, and local government laws and regulations regarding grant contracts and administration, as well as possess knowledge of processes and procedures for implementing and administering various federal, state, and local grants; must possess knowledge and thorough understanding of grant funding policies and procedures; must have thorough understanding of effective grant writing techniques; and possess knowledge of principles and practices of public administration and various levels of governmental organization.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and work cooperatively and maintain liaison with government officials and agencies at the municipal, county, state and federal levels. Ability to keep abreast of federal and state grant programs; ability to determine eligibility for a variety of grant proposals; ability to coordinate and participate in the development of grant applications; ability to coordinate and participate in the preparation of grant compliance reports; ability to comprehend and make inferences from legal and administrative written materials; ability to analyze and compile information and prepare written and oral reports.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears, writes by hand, operates a PC, calculator, printer and fax machine; performs data entry, answers telephone, walks, stands; infrequently carries objects weighing up to 30 lbs., drives, files, cleans, climbs, crawls, kneels, squats, stoops, lifts, pushes or pulls objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Education/Experience: Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field; experience in grant administration, grant management, grant coordination, obtaining funding for grants projects and programs and grant writing.
