Essential Job Functions: Under the general supervision and guidance of the Department Director, this Water Utilities Engineering Intern will perform a range of duties within multiple departments. This position is designed to combine academic study with realistic and increasingly responsible duties in a public sector environment.

Work indoors and outdoors environment; work hours will be established upon employment.Knowledge: Knowledge of basic research techniques; general principals of Environmental or Civil Engineering; knowledge of water, wastewater, hydraulics, and GIS.
Skills/Abilities: Skilled in communicating effectively orally and in writing with individuals who represent a diverse population; skilled in navigating through the internet; ability to work independently; must possess strong computer skills.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently carries and holds objects weighing up to 20 lbs., files, sorts, stands, types, walks; operates a PC, calculator and writes by hand, performs data entry, sits, twists body; infrequently lifts, pulls, pushes and drags object weighing up to 20 lbs., climbs, crawls, kneels, squats and stoops.
Education/Experience: Applicant must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program at an accredited college or university majoring in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license with a good driving record. Other state valid Driver’s License equivalent to Texas Class C with a good driving record will be considered. Texas state law requires within 30 days of residency, you must possess a valid Texas driver’s license. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
