The Position
The City of Beaverton is hiring a Plumbing Inspector to join our building inspection team and support residential and commercial growth and development across the city.
The Plumbing Inspector inspects residential and commercial buildings for compliance with all plumbing codes, ordinances, standards, rules, and regulations and reviews residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing plans and specifications. This position also checks the design, construction and quality of materials, and the location of plumbing systems.
This is a full-time, non exempt, SEIU-classified position.

Responsibilities
- Inspect and regulate installations of plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Ensure that the design, construction, and location of systems comply with state and municipal plumbing regulations. Read and interpret construction plans in conjunction with actual construction.
- Interpret product listings and installation requirements. Interpret and apply plumbing statutes to the inspection. Consult and advise builders of plumbing code requirements needed to pass inspection.
- Meet with staff, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other customers to explain code requirements and resolve conflicts and problems. Answer technical questions about the plumbing codes from the public. Coordinate with other divisions and governmental agencies on final project acceptance.
- Write inspection reports, keep accurate inspection records, and enter inspection results into computer system. File inspection records and plans. Track inspections, stop work orders and expired permits.
- Calculate and explain permit fees.
- Investigate code compliance issues.
- Review plans for multi-family residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Approve the plumbing portion of plans.
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service, creating a positive experience for customers by resolving problems creatively.

Compensation
Wage range : $37.94 - $50.84 hourly base wage
Starting rate will be determined depending on relevant work experience as outlined in the Equal Pay Act. New hires who meet minimum requirements will start at step one. Higher steps may be offered to those who have additional years of directly related experience to the position within the posted wage range.
