A hybrid work schedule is available for this position after an orientation period working in the office after hire. Remote work for this position is subject to department's operational needs and will be discussed with candidates during the selection process. Full-time remote work is not an available option. Once hired, employees must reside in the State of Washington and within reasonable commuting distance to Bellevue City Hall.

In collaboration with the Business Intelligence Team, City staff, and other key partners, the intern may:
- Support citywide data analytics and performance management efforts to promote and improve the use of data-informed decision-making and center diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Develop and implement maturity assessments to measure growth in enterprise data review meetings which help staff at all levels understand successes and progress toward Bellevue’s goals.
- Support continuous improvement work: conduct process mapping, support process improvements, and assist with trainings and other projects.
- Conduct data analysis and data management for City activities, including program management, data review meetings, process improvements, community surveys, and budget development.
- Coordinate City certification process: lead efforts to gather documentation, conduct outreach to City partners, and act as liaison with certification staff.
- Help manage projects, facilitate meetings, and provide management analysis where needed to support the BI Team.
- In order to be considered for an internship you must be currently enrolled in school, in pursuit of a degree.
- Ability to manage projects, facilitate meetings, conduct interviews, and perform best practices research.
- Familiarity with data analytics and performance management practices and principles. (Work or volunteer experience in this area preferred but not required.)
- Demonstrated commitment to centering equity in work and a developed understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Interest in data analytics, including practices, platforms, and visualizations. (Work or volunteer experience in this area preferred but not required.)
- Familiarity with local government structures and operations. (Work or volunteer experience in this area preferred but not required.)
- Interest in public service and the impact that local government can have on people’s lives.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform independently when clear direction is provided.

- Must be enrolled in a bona fide education program. Full time employees taking evening classes, those enrolled in one course, or those going to school periodically are not considered student interns.
- During the school year must be scheduled to work 20 hours or fewer per week.
- During special situations (i.e. specific internship programs through school) or during school breaks, can be scheduled to work more than 20 hours, up to full time, if appropriate.
- Must be terminated as a student intern when no longer associated with an education program.
- At-will for the duration of the student intern status.
