Business Systems Project Management
- Lead business-side project management for department-level Utilities systems, including billing, asset management, work management, and customer engagement platforms.
- Oversee the procurement, implementation, and optimization of business systems, ensuring alignment with operational and regulatory requirements.
- Work with Operations & Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, and Customer Service teams to gather business requirements (including functional, non-functional and user experience), and ensure system functionality supports their workflows.
- Ownership of project scope, schedule, and budget for all Utilities-driven projects, and collaborating with IT project managers & developers for enterprise or IT-specific projects for successfully completion & delivery of projects.
- Conduct business process analysis to improve system usability and operational efficiency.
Key Partner & Vendor Coordination
- Act as the primary liaison between business users, IT teams, vendors, and external agencies.
- Lead RFP development, contract negotiations, and vendor selection for new system implementations or upgrades.
- Work closely with system vendors and consultants to ensure business requirements are met and systems are effectively integrated.
- Facilitate cross-functional meetings, gather feedback, and ensure alignment between business and technical teams.
System Implementation & Process Optimization
- Project manage the implementation of technology systems for Utilities and represent Utilities department in IT-driven enterprise project implementations.
- Support end-user training, business process documentation, and change management efforts for new systems or enhancements.
- Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure business processes are fully supported by system implementations.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage system upgrades, enhancements, and integration efforts with other City systems.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
- Track and report on project milestones, budget status, and key performance indicators to leadership.
- Develop and present project updates, reports, and system demonstrations to key partners.
- Identify and mitigate risks that may impact project delivery or system performance.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Project Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of relevant advanced-professional level experience managing projects with differing levels of complexity, implementing project management best practices, and successfully managing scope, schedule, budget, quality of projects delivered.
- Strong knowledge of business processes in Utilities (or similar capacity), such as billing, work management, asset management, finance, and customer service functions.
- Experience managing business-side projects related to Utilities systems (or similar) and cross-departmental operations.
- Ability to bridge the gap between business needs and system capabilities, ensuring successful implementation and adoption.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and relationship management skills.
- Proficiency in using project management tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project Plan (mpp), Microsoft Office software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Microsoft Visio.
- Strong ability to bring teams together to collaborate to create a desired outcome.
Preferred
- Experience managing projects in the Utilities sector, including asset management, billing, or customer service systems.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Knowledge of utility regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements.
- Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvement.
Salary : $104,225 - $143,865
