The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity as a Maintenance Specialist in the Operations Division of the Department of Public Works. This position is responsible for ensuring maintenance of the citywide facilities.
The Maintenance Specialist is required to perform a broad range of semi-skilled maintenance tasks to include minor painting, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs, concrete and metalwork. This position is characterized by significant time spent independently or with other employees performing semi-skilled maintenance work and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion in identifying and completing necessary maintenance and repair tasks under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager.
This position typically works Monday through Thursday from 6:30a.m. to 3:30p.m. and Fridays from 6:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. Schedule is subject to change based on business needs.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Post-High School education in a related trade is preferred.
3. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
4. A commercial driver's license (CDL) - Class B, or the ability to obtain such CDL within one year of hire.
5. Two years of varied semi-skilled building maintenance and repair work.
6. Electric Hazard Recognition Certification or the ability to obtain such certification within one year of hire.
7. Certified Pool Operator Certification or the ability to obtain such certification within two years of hire.
7. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of these positions will also be considered.
