The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity as the Network Administrator in the Information Technology Department. The Network Administrator is responsible for the administration, support, and enhancement of the municipal network infrastructure so that enterprise systems and related components are secure and highly available, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These responsibilities include receiving, transporting, delivering, racking, fastening, installing and wiring hardware components, monitoring network traffic, applying security patches/firmware, updates/upgrade releases, and making recommendations for future expansion, performance and capacity planning.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of a current driver's license and satisfactory driving record or otherwise be able to meet the transportation requirements of the position.
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited College/University with major course work in computer science or related field.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College/University with major course work in computer science or related field preferred.
- Five years of experience working in a professional IT environment.
- Two years of experience working with the configuration and maintenance of Cisco network products in a professional IT environment.
- Expert working familiarity with Cisco IOS with hands-on experience configuring Cisco routers, switches, firewalls.
- Strong proficiency with the following:
- Routers and routing protocols
- Switching and layer 2 technologies
- Controller based wireless networks
- VoIP systems – Cisco CUCM/Unity
- Network security with firewalls and ACLs
- IPsec VPNs
- Network monitoring (SNMP, NetFlow)
- Mobile operating systems (Android, iOS)
- Cabling standards (Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optics)
- Documentation tools (Microsoft Visio)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is required.
- Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
