GENERAL PURPOSE:
The instructor is responsible for building positive, friendly relationships with all the High Blue members and guests. Responsibilities may also include supervising young children. Cleanliness and Safety are of the utmost importance to High Blue and the membership, your responsibility in this area is highlighted below. Incumbent must demonstrate a strong personal commitment to the mission and goals of the Belton Parks & Recreation Department. Carry out their assigned responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Responsible for being friendly to members and introducing yourself to members. It is your job to create an atmosphere of a friendly community for families.
- Responsible for certification in specified area of class you are teaching as well as CPR.
- Responsible for communicating members needs to the Wellness Manager.
- Guide Patron to proper customer service inquiries and related problems.
- Class structure needs to be orderly, as well as fun for ages that are assigned to class.
- Demonstrate interest in ALL members.
- Responsible for keeping area clean and picked up after classes.
- Be knowledgeable of all Belton Parks & Recreation programs and services to answer questions and/or channel calls to the proper administrative and support staff.
- Report any maintenance or damage to equipment to Wellness Manager.
- Other duties as assigned by the Parks & Recreation Department Supervisors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Ability to use fitness equipment properly and safely.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to exhibit a positive approach in public contact and a calm nature in problem solving situations.
- Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in customer service preferred.
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications preferred.
- Certification in Group Fitness and/or Personal Trainer
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk; and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts.
- The employee occasionally works in highs, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic chemicals.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
