GENERAL PURPOSE:
Supervise the pool area, ensuring safety rules and regulations and the enjoyment of pool participants. Serve as an ambassador for Belton Parks & Recreation/High Blue greeting customers with a cheerful and positive attitude and tending to customer needs.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulations.
- Warn swimmers of improper activities or hazards
- Rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aid.
- Notify the Head Lifeguard or Lead Lifeguard of any accidents, rescues, or problems that have arisen.
- Report to the Head Lifeguard and or Aquatic Manager/Assistant Manager any equipment that needs repair.
- Successfully and positively perform within work team dynamics.
- Adherence to Belton Parks & Recreation/High Blue Wellness Center expectations, encompassing communication, working relations, job reliability and initiative, safety, accomplishment of work tasks, and supervision deck clean and equipment stored in a neat fashion.
- Be consistently alert and professional while on duty.
- Communicate in an effective and professional manner to both enforce rules and answer questions.
- Answer inquiries pertaining to the use of the pool.
- Direct all helpful suggestions from participants and others to your direct supervisor.
- Attending scheduled monthly in-service training.
- Provide periodic supervision and custodial needs of locker rooms.
- Serve as ambassador of Belton Parks & Recreation/High Blue Wellness Center and engage with the public in a respectful, professional, and positive manner.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Head Guard and or Aquatics Manager/Assistant Manager of the Belton Parks & Recreation Department.
- Assist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related areas of the facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to provide individual assistance to members and guests as needed.
- Ability to ensure safe use of equipment and safe activities for all guests and members in the Aquatics Center.
- Ability to respond appropriately to both emergency and nonemergency situations should they arise.
- Ability to assist in maintaining all Aquatic Center Equipment
- Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner to both enforce rules and answer questions.
- Able to work 10-28 hours per week.
Education and Experience:
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid
- American Red Cross Bloodborne Pathogens Training.

- Must maintain a physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities, which may include working closely with others, high levels of public contact, and irregular working hours.
- Able to swim 300 yards with rhythmic breathing and without stopping.
- Timed swim to retrieve a 10lb training brick, swim back to the wall on your back holding the brick with both hands.
- Two-minute treading in water.
