Recreation is looking for tourism staff for the 2025 summer season!
- June through August

Referral Incentive – A seasonal employee who refers a new seasonal employee will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck. Referral verification is required within one week of employee's start date and both employees must be employed for the entirety of the scheduled season to be eligible.
Commitment Incentive – A seasonal employee who works all sessions of camp will receive $50 bonus.
Assists with paddleboat, kayak and bike rental at Paul Bunyan Park and Diamond Point Park, and provide exceptional guest and visitor services. This position assists in maintain and organizing the rentals and related equipment. Light maintenance and janitorial work.- Supervision Received
- Works under the daily work direction of the Visitor Experience Coordinator and the general supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director.

- Serves visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately.
- Educating customers about kayak – paddling, bikes, and paddleboats.
- Working with a point-of-sale system to rent boats and manage funds.
- Maintaining rental boat fleet, paddles, and life jackets.
- Maintaining organization of rentals and equipment.
- Using strong communication skills to work with Visit Bemidji Staff, Park and Recreation Staff, and customers.
- Ensures rental agreements are written up properly, deposit records are accurate, and money handled properly.
- Ability to operate a point-of-sale system.
- Monitors Park visitors to ensure order and safety.
- Maintains a well informed and working knowledge of Bemidji’s attractions and services available to area visitors, acts as a liaison between visitors and these entities.
- Assists downtown visitors by providing wayfinding directions, event information, and suggestions for local restaurants/retail and regional attractions.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Perform various office support tasks as assigned.
- Education & Experience
- Some experience in direct customer service.
- Excellent planning, organizing, implementation, communication, attention to detail, and evaluation skills.
- Ability to display and act in a professional manner.
- Must be a confident public speaker able to work with groups of all ages and backgrounds.
- Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge, skill and ability to handle emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential information.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, department staff, and the public.
- Special Requirement
- First Aid and CPR certified.
