The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Junior Public Works Engineer in the Public Works Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain experience and on-the-job training in professional civil engineering work. You will perform both office and field work including design, specification, and inspection of construction for sewers, streets, structures, parks and related public works projects. As you gain experience, the work will become progressively more diversified and difficult and will require increasing independence of judgment.
Junior Public Works Engineers work under direct supervision, receive training, and are expected to gain the proficiency to successfully advance to the Assistant Public Works Engineer level.

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering.
Other requirements include possession of a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
