Department Water & Sewer Resources / Utility Billing Type of Position Full-time, Union Salary / Pay Rate $40,232.64 annual Deadline to Apply ongoing MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Computer experience and possession of a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by Microsoft Office computer courses, and especially skilled in Microsoft Excel. Minimum of one year of customer service experience is required. REQUIREMENTS Must pass a criminal background investigation and pre-employment medical exam. NATURE OF WORK PERFORMED The Customer Service Representative position works in the City of Bethlehem Water & Sewer Resources Department and assists customers by answering questions regarding service and bills, providing information, and scheduling appointments. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED Answers telephone calls from water and sewer customers, retrieves and respond to voicemail messages, schedules meter replacement appointments, issues reminder calls for appointments, pay plan installments and collection of delinquent accounts as the daily duties require. Operates a personal computer with Microsoft Office Suite, Community and Finance Plus and other related software programs. Updates customer account information and certifies utility accounts as needed. Prepares data for billings including : making adjustments in meter readings and payments for preparation of revised bills, revising customer data, and issuing finals bills for settlement. Provides Lien and Bankruptcy information to Legal Bureau. Performs meter readings and post buildings for shut-off as needed. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must adhere to customer service protocols and be proficient in business arithmetic. Ability to follow oral or written directions, function independently and as part of a team. Must possess excellent customer service skills; good typing skills; and good judgment, tact, and courtesy. Ability to lift light weight boxes occasionally. Must possess a valid PA driver's license. Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
