The City of Biddeford, a beautiful, resurgent, coastal Maine community, is seeking dynamic people to join our award-winning team of professionals. Bus Drivers will join the Recreation Department to provide transportation for our camp staff and participants to a variety of field trip locations throughout southern Maine and New Hampshire.
Responsibilities
- Supervises all children on the bus
- Obeys traffic laws
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus
- Works with the Program Coordinator to address disciplinary issues
- Keeps the assigned vehicle clean
- Checks the vehicle before each operation for any issues or failures; notifies the Program Coordinator with findings
- Exercises responsible leadership during all times
- Transports only authorized participants
- Keeps to the assigned schedule
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports
- Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus
- Demonstrates and utilizes excellent team building skills
- Able to work under occasional stress
- Maintains confidentiality and effectively operates in an environment which involves sensitive situations with participants, families, staff, and the general public
- Adheres to all Recreation Department policies
- Attends scheduled pre-camp and in-service staff meetings and trainings
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid Driver's License with excellent driving record
- Appropriate licensing to meet Maine laws and regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and a team player
- A willingness to demonstrate a commitment to the City of Biddeford's work around diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL License with an S Endorsement
- Experience working in a camp, recreation, or school setting
- Experience working with children ages 4-14
- Experience addressing camper behavioral issues with children and staff
- CPR/ First Aid certified
