This position is responsible for screening and weighing commercial and residential waste, receiving customer complaints, and providing administrative support to the department.** Working Schedule is Tuesday through Saturday 8 AM to 5 PM**
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following representative duties, knowledge and skills. Factors such as regular attendance at the job are not routinely listed in job descriptions but are an essential function. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Screens and weighs commercial and residential waste.Answers the telephone, provides information to callers, takes messages for staff, and accepts work order requests for Sanitation routes.Greets the public and directs visitors to the appropriate person, office, or disposal area.Establishes bills, receives and records payments, and maintains records of commercial and residential accounts.Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to include Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Quarterly reports, compost reports, daily landfill reports, fuel reports, cash reports, and budget analysis reports.Prepares the department payroll.Types all correspondence, memoranda, and reports for the department.Completes purchase orders for department.Schedules monthly safety meetings for department; serves as department safety officer.Maintains calendar for Sanitation and Landfill Manager; makes travel reservations as required.Completes employee incident reports for injured personnel.Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.Knowledge of the operations of the department.Knowledge of basic accounting.Skill in the use of a weigh scale, telephone, computer, copier, facsimile machine, and two-way radio.Skill in bookkeeping.Skill in dealing with the public.Skill in oral and written communication.Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues.Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt to different working styles and maintain positive working relationships.
