Position Overview
Work Schedule: 2:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, to perform a variety of semi-skilled work involved in inspecting, servicing, and maintaining transit buildings, and grounds. Duties for this position include lawn care (including pulling weeds), cleaning up trash from MET properties, parts and supplies runs, painting, cleaning interiors and exteriors of MET fleet, inventory assistance. Seasonal employment will last from three (3) to six (6) months dependent upon departmental needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Vehicle and equipment service as assigned
- Wash and clean of interiors and exteriors of vehicles including steaming engines and other mechanical areas.
- Assist maintenance mechanic and transit service worker as directed.
- Move vehicles and equipment as needed.
Facility service
- Maintain on site grounds systems including fencing, gates, sprinkler systems and other items.
- Perform custodial duties, cleaning, and maintenance of facilities including dust and polish furniture and woodwork, wash windows and walls, clean rest rooms, assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment, sweep, scrub/strip/wax floors, etc; schedule carpet cleanings.
- Perform building maintenance duties in and around MET building including pouring concrete pads for bus shelters, painting, landscaping, grounds upkeep, and other duties.
- Perform and assist in snow removal procedures; direct snow removal procedures as assigned.
- Assemble, maintain, clean, and repair advertising benches, bus shelters, and other transit amenities.
- Install and remove advertising graphics on fleet vehicles.
General duties
- Complete required task tracking and reporting in electronic fleet and facility management systems; prepare maintenance reports as assigned.
- Assist with facility and fleet inventory services as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Required Qualification & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years old and have a valid driver's license
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Federal and State criminal background check, and a driving record check
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Capable of lifting and carrying 1-50 lbs. occasionally
- Capable of pushing and pulling 1-150lbs. occasionally
- Able to perform repetitive motions for periods of ½ hour or longer
- Capable of frequent bending at the knees and waist
- Capable of gripping/grasping tools for ½ hour or longer
- Willing/able to work in adverse weather conditions including rain, snow, wind, heat, cold
- Willing/able to work in an environment of extended sun exposure
