GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The City of Birmingham is seeking a Parking Enforcement Assistant who will work 24 hours per week under the supervision of the Police Department to perform a variety of duties related to the enforcement of City of Birmingham parking ordinances.
Duties will include patrolling on foot and in a vehicle, issuing parking citations, providing information and assistance to motorists and pedestrians, assisting in a variety of Police Department activities involving civilian personnel, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
The Parking Enforcement Assistant primarily requires outdoor work, with exposure to a variety of weather and environmental conditions, which may be extreme at times.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum of 1 to 2 years of previous work experience involving substantial public contact.
• Valid Michigan Driver's License with good driving record.
• High school diploma, or equivalent. Post-secondary coursework in criminal justice, or related field preferred.
WORK SCHEDULE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
The work schedule averages 24 hrs. per week (Mon & Thurs: 3 pm-9 pm, Fri: 5 pm-9pm, Sat: noon-9 pm). Hours will be determined by the police department.
This Part-Time position has a range of $20.37-$27.35 per hour, depending on qualifications.
