Job Description
This position is responsible for managing the operations functions for the Bismarck airport.
Examples of Duties
- Manages, plans, and coordinates the activities of the Airport Operations Department including: Operations, Security, Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF), and Police.
- Manages and implements requirements of the FAA-approved Airport Certification Manual, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, Emergency Plan, and Snow and Ice Control Plan.
- Develops, maintains, and administers FAA required training for all airport staff.
- Develops, maintains, and administers Security and Movement Area training for required personnel.
- Manages and implements Airport's spill plan and storm water plan.
- Responds to emergencies and coordinates the Airport's response.
- Monitors contracts with ARFF and Security for compliance.
- Manages and implements requirements of the TSA-approved Airport Security Program including badging.
- Serves as an Airport Security Coordinator.
- Administers the commercial operating permits and insurance programs for tenants and airport users.
- Monitors tenant operations for lease, safety, security, and environmental compliance
- Provides feedback to the supervisor on project design, construction safety phasing plans and development.
- Reviews site plans and land development for compatible land use under FAA part 77 and applicable regulations.
- Manages the Airport’s security system, camera systems, PA system, etc.
- Assists with the management of the airport’s IT infrastructure.
- Interacts with Tenants, TSA, FAA, Local First Responders, Airlines, Ground Handlers, Car Rentals, and Concessionaires, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
- Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
- Possession of or the ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Dakota for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
- Must meet and maintain qualifications pursuant to 49 CFR Part 1542 (Unescorted Access Authority).
