SALARY RANGE: $83,623 - $117,073 DOQ/E 12-MONTH INTRODUCTORY PERIOD
WORK SCHEDULE: MON-THURS, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
ON-CALL HOURS; HOLIDAYS AND WEEKENDS

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Water System Superintendent and Water Resource Engineer, a water utility distribution lead will operate, maintain, and repair or contract the repair of water mains, service lines, valves, pumps, and water-related appurtenances. This is the top level in the Utility Distribution System hierarchy, and the lead is expected to perform a full range of duties with significant independence and initiative. The Lead will also be expected to provide inspection services for construction, both City and Private.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential functions include Performing more difficult and complex utility maintenance duties relative to the distribution system. Assists in evaluating work projects and estimating time, materials, equipment, and staffing needs. Performs Distribution Operator in Responsible Charge duties. Maintain City backflow prevention program. Oversees City Lead and Copper compliance plan. Acts as a leader for work crews who are assisting in accomplishing specific duties. Assigns work and monitors progress. Guides, trains, mentors, and develops employees in all aspects of the distribution system. Installs, repairs, and maintains water mains, valves, pressure-reducing valves, pumps, surge suppressors, fire hydrants, and related equipment to the operation of the water treatment plants and distribution system. Monitors and evaluates plant readings via SCADA system. Compiles readings and test results into hourly, daily, and monthly reports and performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS: Education and experience:
· High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of experience in water utility operations. Formal training in water treatment is desired. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
· Colorado Class 4 Distribution Systems Certification.
· Colorado Cross Connection Control Technician Certification.
· Valid Colorado Driver’s License with good driving record.
· Ability to obtain Flagger Certification within 1 year of hire.
· Ability to obtain Level D Water Utility Operator License within 1 year of hire.
