What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adaptive Sports Lead Staff position at City of Bloomington?
Provides on-site leadership for adaptive softball and pickleball staff, participants, and volunteers, under the direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor.
Desirable Qualifications:
Adaptive Pickleball runs Thursdays beginning on June 19th through July 17th with staff hours of 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.
BONUS INCENTIVES
Commitment Bonus- A seasonal employee who works until at least July 29th will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck.
Referral Bonus– A seasonal employee who refers a new seasonal employee will receive $100 bonus on their final paycheck. Referral paperwork required within one week of employees start date and both employees must be employed for the entirety of the scheduled season to be eligible.

- Provide a safe, fun and appropriate experience for all participants.
- Serves as on-site lead to instructors and volunteers
- Work with Recreation Supervisor and Recreation Coordinator to run a successful program.
- Communicate regularly with Supervisor, public, staff, program participants, and families.
- Prepare, submit and review all reports required on participants, staff, incidents and property damage. Turn in all documentation to Supervisor/coordinator in a timely manner.
- Attends and participates in staff training and meetings.
- Provide support as needed for all participants and staff to create an inclusive environment.
- Work as a team member to ensure the program's compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
- Assists in organizing and keeping inventory of all equipment utilized at softball and pickleball
- Evaluate and give on-going feedback to all softball staff as well as overall program.
- Participate in performance evaluation, identifying accomplishments, goals, and personal improvement plans.
- Follow staff policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all staff, participants, and volunteers follow the established policies and procedures.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor.
- Adhere to and enforce state health guidelines.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be available for the entire softball and pickleball seasons. Tuesdays June 10 - July 29 and Thursdays June 19 - July 17 (no program July 1 & 3), including trainings and orientations.
- Must successfully pass a Criminal and Driving Background Check.
- Must possess valid driver’s license.
- Must have leadership experience.
- Must have experience working with people with disabilities.
- Must have good communication, leadership and organizational skills.
- Must have a willingness to learn about and support people with disabilities as they participate in city-sponsored Parks and Recreation programs.
- Currently certified in First Aid/CPR/AED, or have ability to obtain.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or coursework in Recreation, Sports and Leisure, Education Therapeutic Recreation, or related field.
- Experience working in community recreation or education programs with teens and people with disabilities.
- Creativity and ability to plan, lead and implement activities.
- Responsible, reliable and be able to work as part of a team.
