Seasonal Part Time - STAFF ASSISTANT- ARTS - COMMUNITY EVENTS
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists with the implementation of special events, art fairs, concerts, outdoor movies and use of facilities/park sites under the general direction of a full-time staff member. Supervise program/event operations while interpreting and enforcing rules and policies for the Parks and Recreation Department. Fosters good public relations. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: High School education or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Some college education is preferred.
EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS: Incumbent should possess some working knowledge of event and/or program implementation. Incumbent must have strong communication skills. Incumbent must possess strong customer service skills. Experience working with sound equipment is preferred. Ability to work independently and make quick decisions.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Moderate to strenuous physical effort is exerted by the employee in the while on site at events. Employees may occasionally move materials weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee primarily performs duties outdoors in parks in varying weather conditions. Safety precautions used at all times to avoid injury. Employee must also be willing to spend time in an office environment communicating with performers, artists, and the public.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
CPR and First Aid or ability to obtain
Valid driver's license required
HOURS: April-September. Part-time hours including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Most events will take place Thursday through Saturday. Must be able to work flexible hours. Hours vary with season and program offerings.
SALARY: $17.96 per hour
