The City of Bloomington is seeking an individual to provide prompt, accurate, and courteous information desk services for employees and the public in a manner that will project a positive image of the City.

- Assists the visiting public by directing them to the appropriate departments within Civic Plaza or other City buildings, events, and activities
- Trains backup staff in the correct procedures of the switchboard and information desk
- Assists various departments with one-time and ongoing projects in coordination with the Communications Supervisor
- Processes certified mail
- Notifies facilities maintenance of maintenance and cleaning issues that are reported
- Keeps the information desk clean and organized
- Acts as liaison between daytime staff and Center of the Arts attendants who staff the information desk on evenings and weekends
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with the general public and City employees
- Customer service skills
- Organizational skills
- Computer and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to lift small packages up to 30 pounds
- Knowledge of City and Center for the Arts operations and personnel
- Ability to consistently work assigned shifts
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months of work experience operating a telephone operating system or serving as a public-facing concierge at a business or other organization
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word & Outlook
- One year of customer service experience
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Additional years of experience in operating a telephone operating system
- Additional years of experience as a receptionist, concierge, or similar position
- Additional years of experience in customer service
- Ability to lift small packages up to 30 pounds
- Ability to speak Spanish, Somali, Sign Language, or other non-English languages prevalent in the community
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS
This position does not supervise others.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $23.79 – $25.24 Hourly
2025 Full Salary Range: $23.79 – $31.72 Hourly
Part-Time; Non-Exempt; Union; Benefits Ineligible
