What are the responsibilities and job description for the Intern (Public Health) (Bicycle Parking Infrastructure) position at City of Bloomington?
Summer Internship Full-Time 40 hours per week Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Temporary Position-will begin the end of May and run for 12-15 weeks.
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The City of Bloomington is seeking 3 individuals to support the implementation of Bloomington’s Energy Action Plan and Active Transportation Plan by collecting bicycle parking data for a GIS mapping project. The project will span across the cities of Bloomington, Richfield, and Edina with each intern being responsible for one city.

- Travel throughout Bloomington, Edina, or Richfield to collect data on bicycle racks and parking infrastructure (e.g. take measurements, photos, and add data into a GIS map via an iPad)
- When out in the field, take photos of active transportation infrastructure and vehicles to be used in presentations (e.g. residents biking, walking, taking transit, etc.)
- Ability to work outside in various summer weather conditions
- Ability to use a measuring tape and an iPad to import data into a GIS map
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Driver's License or the ability to ride a bicycle and take public transportation
- Ability to speak a second language, in addition to English that has a recognized presence in the community. (Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, Chinese Mandarin, Cambodian, etc.)
- Academic courses related to sustainability, climate change, public health, transportation, and GIS
- Work experience related to field data collection, photography, and GIS
This position does not supervise others.
Anticipated 2025 Hiring Range: $21.00 - $23.00 Hourly
