Collects, retrieves, interprets, analyzes, synthesizes, & translates health data for specific audiencesIn coordination with the Information Technology Department, support the development, implementation, & maintenance of public health information systems Utilizes statistical techniques & software to assess the health status of the community & evaluate the effectiveness of activities directed at improving community health indicatorsIdentifies, evaluates, & tracks health equity-related opportunities, issues and goals Designs and implements instruments & procedures for quantitative and qualitative data collection & analysisManages assigned projects or activities involving the collection, interpretation, assessment, evaluation, & use of data and informationServes as technical expert & advisor for community partners & other external stakeholders in the analysis & interpretation of health data to prevent & control diseasePrepares & delivers written reports, oral presentations, & other data products for various audiencesRepresents Bloomington Public Health as a data expert & knowledge broker with internal & external partnersUses data to inform the Division’s strategic direction & long-term planningAssists in the development of Community Health Assessments (CHA) & Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIP) Develops written reports, fact sheets, dashboards, maps, & data visualizations to enable the dissemination of data to the community in support of the division's mission & community health needs.Collaborates with community partners & other public health professionals to improve how data is collected, analyzed, & disseminated to improve community health.Learns & applies new techniques, technologies, & practices related to health data & epidemiologyProvides data to Division staff & teams as requestedBuilds Division capacity for epidemiology, disease prevention, data infrastructure & informaticsParticipates in other City data-related projects as necessary & appropriatePerforms public health emergency response functions as trained & assigned within the department’s emergency response planPerforms related duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIREDAbility to understand, analyze, and interpret data through a health-equity lens Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to various audiencesExcellent data synthesis and data communication skillsAbility to complete projects on schedule
