PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
Site Locations: 1) B-Line Trail (3.1 miles) 2) Clear Creek Trail (2.4 miles) 3) Bloomington Rail Trail (2.0 miles) 4) B-Link Trail (.32 miles)
Incumbent reports to and receives assignments from the Sanitation & Grounds Working Foreperson, but is self-directed. Duties are performed according to an established schedule, and are reviewed to ensure standards for cleanliness and sanitation are met.
Incumbent performs a wide variety of duties and tasks related to the upkeep, sanitation, and general maintenance of the Bloomington Rail Trail, Clear Creek, B-Line trails, but may be assigned to work at any Parks and Recreation facility. Incumbent performs all tasks necessary to maintain high standards for cleanliness and sanitation. Specific duties:
· Blows off, sweeps, and otherwise keeps trails area free of dirt, debris, litter, leaves, etc.
· Limited landscaping duties, such as the maintenance of landscaped beds and/or operating a push mower and gas string trimmer.
· Performs all custodial tasks necessary to maintain cleanliness and sanitation of trail facilities, or other areas as assigned.
· Removes graffiti using manual and mechanical methods.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Working knowledge and skill in the operation of custodial tools and equipment.
· Possess or obtain current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications within 30 days of hire.
· Ability to follow mixing directions and to follow chemical application of cleaning solutions.
· Working knowledge of mechanics and ability to perform inspections on vehicles and equipment.
· Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to interact and work well with the public and other employees.
· Must be reliable, punctual, have the ability to follow oral and written direction, and be capable of performing physically demanding work.
· Valid Driver’s License. Good driving record.
Must be in good physical condition. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is exerted by the employee in the setup and operation of equipment; including frequent bending, stooping, and the movement of extremities to operate equipment controls and perform work tasks. Moderate to strenuous physical effort is frequently required for extended periods of time in the lifting, loading, and transporting of materials. Employee must be physically capable of lifting weights in excess of 50 pounds. Employee performs duties in and out of doors, in varying weather conditions, and is frequently exposed to unsanitary conditions, park users, and work sites near traffic, noise, dust, and vehicle and equipment fumes. Safety precautions used at all times to avoid injury.
8 hours per day, 7:30am-3:30pm. Some weekends required if emergency conditions exist. 40 hour work week, except holiday weeks and during periods of inclement weather. Employees under age eighteen are subject to restrictions on both hours and prohibited occupations.
March 17 – December 5 Tuesday - Saturday (40hrs/wk)
Term of employment not to exceed nine months.
Sanitation & Grounds Working Foreperson
: $17.96 - $18.16 per hour.
