Description
The City of Blue Ash is seeking applicants for the Head Lifeguard position at the Blue Ash Recreation Center. The Head Lifeguard position is under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the Aquatics Managers. This position ensures that exceptional safety standards are always maintained to protect the patrons and staff of the aquatic facility. This involves having a high level of vigilance, enforcing safety rules, and providing leadership to the lifeguard staff. This is a Part-Time Seasonal position.
This position will enjoy contributions to the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System; free individual membership to the Blue Ash Recreation Center with eligibility and discount for family members; and discounts at the Blue Ash Golf Course and Sandtrap Grill Restaurant.
Examples of Duties
- Demonstrate leadership and judgment, setting positive examples by being knowledgeable, encouraging, and committed.
- Supervise, assist and support the lifeguard team during work shifts.
- Address, resolve, and report conflicts or issues with patrons and the lifeguard team.
- Inspect and maintain pool equipment and filtration systems
- Monitor and balance pool water quality; maintain accurate records
- Participate in staff training, reviewing procedures, rules, and addressing procedures and safety.
- Ability to enforce rules, stay calm, and respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.
- Ensure all safety equipment is properly placed and functional
- Perform lifeguard duties as needed
- Engage in physical labor, lifting at least 50 pounds unassisted.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Typical Qualifications
- Previous lifeguard experience required.
- Current lifeguard certification, including CPR, AED, and First Aid.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
