JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The Ridge Runner Depot Attendant will assist riders with ticket and merchandise sales inside the depot. This position will perform daily operations of sales, balancing cash to ticket and merchandise sales, and maintaining cleanliness of the facility. Money will be picked up daily by a police officer. Applicants must maintain a positive attitude, be outgoing, and willing to work with guests of all ages. We are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, team player, committed to rider safety and enjoyment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Opens and closes train depot.
- Works ticket and merchandise sales.
- Possess basic and accurate math skills.
- Demonstrates excellent customer service skills, responds to customer needs, and requests.
- Must be able to work independently and handle most customer questions without assistance.
- Must be able to operate a cash register, and handle cash and check transactions.
- Maintains an accurate count of both ticket and merchandise sales. Keeps an accurate daily balance sheet of cash received and tickets sold, balance all sales and change, and submit cash and checks to police department for treasury department audit.
- Responsible for checking the age for every rider in accordance with the rider policy. Also responsible to help engineer in enforcing the accompanying rider policy.
- Efficiently and courteously answers questions concerning prices, merchandise, and other frequently asked questions.
- Physical ability to stand or sit for long periods of time. Use hands to handle and control objects, and perform repetitive movements.
- Must be alert and have a quick reaction time assist the engineer in case of an emergency.
- Help to maintain a clean and safe working environment for guests and team members, and close and secure depot at the end of each day.
- Help engineer ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
- Must be guest-oriented and enjoy working with the public and solving problems.
- Maintain regular attendance.
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned as needed.
Requirements
- Must have your own transportation to and from work.
- Must pass drug screen and criminal background check.
- Attendance required to ensure ability to operate train on normal schedule.
- Attitude/cooperation: always maintain courteous and professional manner with co-workers and the general public.
- Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time. Requires physical mobility (i.e., the ability to move in and around different areas of the depot, hand and arm movement). Requires long hours of sitting, standing, and bending.
- Ability to follow instructions of supervisor/facility manager in order to adhere to company policies and safety guidelines.
- Safely perform job duties that are explained during sales and safety training.
- Interact with customers, including greeting them, selling tickets, selling merchandise, enforcing age restrictions, explaining and enforcing safety regulations, and answering general questions.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to noise and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The position regularly works inside the train depot equipped with fans and heater.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- This position can be very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching throughout the day.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move items over 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- The employee will be working indoors and is exposed to loud noise throughout the day.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time, seasonal position. The season begins Memorial Day weekend and ends the last weekend in September. Days and hours of work are Saturday and Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., 2 days per week. Hours may vary from this schedule.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required. High school students are welcome to apply.
Will be trained by Ridge Runner staff members.
Other Requirements
- Proof of citizenship and/or eligibility to legally work in the United States.
- Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attire.
- Maintain regular attendance.
